Celcius owners have returned to her, and are energetically preparing her for relaunching here in Rebak Marina, Langkawi. After their time of absence, Celcius has maintained herself really well, and they are excited to be going in the water again.
They are super keen to sell, and wish for an owner who fully respects the worth and condition of the boat. The below points, outline their passion and reflect what Celcius can truely offer to a new owner.
1- Celcius is a catamaran, so very comfortable and spacious compared to a keelboat of the same size. During her construction, everything on board was designed to be comfortable and functional, rain or shine.
2- It is a Richard Wood design. The fame of Mr Wood's plans is undeniable. He is himself a great navigator who designs robust, light and efficient catamarans. It was built by a professional-shipyard in Canada.
3- She is an 11 meter catamaran easy to sail alone or as a couple. Equipped with traditional rigging, so no worries about the strength of the mast. It is maintained by 9 cables and there is redundancy in case of a failure.
4- Celsius has only had one caring owner. Only medical reasons prevent them from continuing their world tour.
5- The value for money is unbeatable. Only the hull and the mast are 30 years old. - a complete survey was done in May 2020 and the hull is in good condition
and no significant problems have been observed for the whole boat.
- The standing rigging has been changed 3 times to meet the requirements of the insurer. Last change November 2016.
-The engines were changed in 2004 and 2005. They have 3950 hours and 3580 hours. Their maintenance has been scrupulously respected according to the
manufacturer's instructions.
- the mainsail and the genoa were changed in November 2016. The code 0 changed in 2015, the furling rig for the jib in 2014, the spinnaker in 2005. Only the
storm sail is original. All sailsand ropes are in good condition.
- the 20l/hr desalinator was changed in July 2017.
- the radar antenna, the 2 main winches and the windlass motor were changed in January2019. New 275 watt solar panel installed in April 2021.
- the Profurl Genoa furler was reconditioned in 2009
- all navigation instruments are functional
- the trampoline was changed in 2016 and it is protected by a solar canvas and there is a spare trampoline.
- there are complete 2 functional autopilots on board
5- Langkawi is a duty free zone. Celsius can become your second home in Malaysia. No timelimit for your boat. No cyclone, generally favourable weather
conditions. Dry season between December and May so perfect to avoid the European or North American winter. 2 rallies are organized by SailMalaysia
which make it easier to visit Malaysia with your sailboat.
6- By Staying a few years in Malaysia you can easily visit the surrounding countries. Easy to go to Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand with the sailboat.
It is Inexpensive to fly to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos
The Flica is a tried and tested design by Richard Wood, and professionally built by Atelier Multicoque, in 1988. Solid and sought after designs, known for their great seaworthiness and build quality. Launched on the St Laurence River, her maiden voyage was sailing the Gulf of St Lawerence. She has sailed the Great Lakes, and the Eastern coast of the USA and Caribbean, before crossing the Pacific, NZ, Australia and Sth East Asia. She has been based here in Malaysia and Thailand since 2017. Her owners alternate their time between their tropical cruising home, and their life in Canada.
She is a solid built boat, and has 2 large double bunks and a 3rd berth area in the aft of the port hull, that is also a double bunk. Her saloon area is open plan, without a permanent awkward table to restrict movement, but it has an ingenious table that can be independently fitted in both the saloon and in the cockpit.
A beamy transom seat, custom made in New Zealand, is a solid and practical design, which also is used for the davits and the solar panel bracing.
She is lovingly nurtured and consistently and constantly upgraded and maintained with the latest technology.
She has a huge amount of locker space and storage, and a full range of electronics, that puts her in a position to be ready to set sail at anytime. Easily handled by one person, everything comes back to the cockpit. She is a function-able, light and well ventilated living space.
Despite living on her for such a long time, the owners are ready for full time land based challenges. She is ready to move aboard, and ready to go. Proven to cross oceans, she would be also a perfect tropical coastal cruiser. But the scope of your travels are only limited by your dreams! Please contact me today for any more information.
